Steady State

BY ALEXANDER SCHUBERT

“Steady State” is a performative piece that merges neuroscience and technology to establish a feedback loop between the performer’s brain activity and computer-generated stimuli. Using an EEG cap, the performer’s dominant brain frequencies are monitored as they engage with strobing video projections. The visuals are influenced by the performer’s gaze and brain activity, creating a continuous interplay. This work blurs the boundaries between installation and performance, transforming the performer into a transhuman processing unit centered on the themes of the body, computation, hallucination, and transcendence.

People continuously emit waves,
through movement, sound, and energy,
that interact with their surroundings.

These waves are absorbed and reflected,
creating a reciprocal relationship.
